Message I've sent samples into our local Z club member's oil lab (it's pretty impressive) to see what was happening after 5000-6000 km (3000-3500 mi). Viscosity breakdown is happening pretty quickly, even with full synthetic Mobil 1. I daily drive the Z and autoX in summer, but the analysis of the oil at that mileage reinforces the 'change sooner than later' adage.

Oil's cheap, the wear components aren't.
